Lectio Divina: Psalm 51:10-14

As we read the scriptures a third time, think what action God may be inviting you toward. -The Liturgists

14 Deliver me from bloodshed, O God,

    O God of my salvation,

and my tongue will sing aloud of your deliverance.

Inviting me…

I will weigh the cost of my consumption. :$2.53 + tip:
I will walk to the water.

3 laps to a mile.

3 laps to the filtered water.

I will donate the cost of 40 days of my caffeine fix.

I spend around $3 on caffeinated drinks and tips at the office cafeteria.

$3 for 40 days…$120 💥

That’s only accounting for beverages consumed during the work day…

My work life is comfortable–I read about the sacrifices people make to access clean water while I consume caffeinated beverages under the pretense that they make me more awake–awake for 8 hours in a cubicle. I’m in a place where I have considerable autonomy over the pace that I work…and I lean on caffeine to cope in my climate-controlled, secure, office. I am privileged. Am I awake?

I will walk to the water but it still will not compare to the reality that is faced by so many.

I will walk and think on what is true outside my comfort.

I will walk each hall, paid for by taxes in support of all who labor. I will match each dollar and change. I will count the next step. I will advocate for the workforce beyond the borders of this state.

Water is a need we all share…if you’d like to share what you r been given I encourage you to join me in support Charity: Water this Lenten season–more info below.
